Stella and Flare Concepts

Here we have the first half of my Team Astronus idea, the girls Stella and Flare.

Stella the Koala
Gender - Female
Summary - Former member of the Coconut Crew, Stella is a genius Material Crafter and ship designer, was kicked out for arguing and questioning Captain Marine's insane plans. After discovering Astrona Island and its rich Material deposits, decided to settle in the village to further her research and promises to help develop the village into a tradepost and end their seclusion. Is the first outsider welcomed to live in the village. Very smart and chatty, gets overly eager with new technology, always coming up with ideas for crafting and can get a little full of herself with her intellect but is quickly apologetic when someone calls her out on it. Does not like Marine the Racoon.
Abilities - Very intelligent, master Material Crafter and ship builder, good at analysing technology, not a fighter.

Design Notes: I'll just say it, I'm not a huge fan of the Koala designs of the Coconut crew (Its the beady eyes). But I have to admit they do look more like Koalas than Barby the Koala from Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog Comics. So with Stella I tried to go with a blend of the two designs that I would like. When designing her I wasn't sure what clothes she would have, my initial idea was a brown jacket that she keeps tools in but it would of made her look too much like Relic the Pika from the comics. So in the end I went with the overalls and tool belt, which I admit with the colours I got here make her look like a Mario Bros fan.

Flare the Echidna
Gender - Female
Summary - Fiery village warrior blessed by the mark of the Comet at birth granting her super-speed. Was a friendly rival with Lunas in the old days before he went to Mobius. Now resents Lunas due to him choosing to stay on Mobius rather then his real home where his duty and old friends are. She feels he has abandoned his old life to play hero on another world and isn't worthy to one day become the village chief since he barely stays around long enough to know how the villagers feel. The recent invasion by the Vikings hammers the point in that Lunas wasn't around to help defend the village. She is very aggressive and hot tempered but loyal to her clan to the end.
Powers/Abilities - Being blessed by the mark of the Comet, Flare is gifted with Super Speed (Not Sonic level, maybe Jolt the Roadrunner). Just as skilled in hand to hand combat as Lunas, but rather then strength she focusses on speed and agility. Has Retractable Knuckle Spikes maybe?

Design Notes: Colour scheme isn't final but I want to keep the spectrum of Lunas' people around Blues and Purples. Rather then give her standard sandals I wanted her to have sandals that are designed for running, much like Olympic Sprinters in Ancient Greece (Annoyingly hard to draw though. I also wanted to give her a different quill style from the usual with Echidnas, specifically one that was more streamlined to indicate her speed. Was hard to pull off but fortunately I used Shade's quill style as a good reference. I read in some sources that in Archie Comics Sonic the Hedgehog, Knuckles' future daughter has Knuckle spikes that can retract, not sure if its true but sounded cool so I gave Flare her own. Perhaps I could say all males in the tribe have larger, permanent spikes while the female's have smaller retractable ones?

These are just concepts so there is still room for improvements if needed, and I haven't finalised their colour shcemes yet. So if you got any advice or suggestions feel free to tell me in the comments.
